The BBC has contacted the Cannes Film Festival for a comment. The outfits and the hairstyles are the talking point of the fashion enthusiasts.

It wasn't clear if her act was a demonstration against Cannes' notorious policy of requiring women to wear high heels on the red carpet or whether she wanted to feel more secure on the somewhat soggy red carpet. However, Hollywood star Kristen Stewart is not the one who buys this willingly.

Kristen Stewart broke a cardinal rule at the 71st annual Cannes Film Festival at Palais des Festivals in France when she removed her stilettos on the red carpet.

In 2016, Kristen pulled a similar stunt when she wore black trainers around Cannes and then swapped into a pair of silver heels just for the photo call.

"Everyone should wear flats, to be honest", Blunt said. The latter, incidentally, made a decision to ignore the rules of dress code and get rid of high heels immediately on the track.

The announcement comes after it was revealed that Nintendo Switch Online benefits include online access to classic NES games. NES and SNES Classics still sell for about $120 - about double the original price - on Craigslist in the Pittsburgh area.

Stewart passed the first bank of photographers without protest, posing for the press in her thigh-skimming metallic mini-dress.

Kristen, who's been outspoken about her hatred of the no flats rule, clearly meant it as a screw you to Cannes' dress code (though we're sure comfort played into it too). People get very upset at you if you don't wear heels or whatever'.

"It's just like you simply can not ask me to do something that you are not asking him. If you're not asking guys to wear heels and a dress, you can not ask me either".

Earlier in the festival, those same steps also played home to yet another sea change at the annual event, as 82 women (including Stewart) marched in support of equality at the festival, which has long programmed films directed by men over those directed by women.
