Steven Gerrard has made his first signing as Rangers manager, bringing in Scott Arfield from Burnley on a four-year deal.

Arfield debuted for Canada in March 2016 and has won 12 caps.

Arfield, who previously played in the Scottish Premiership for Falkirk and then for Huddersfield Town, was out of contract at the end of the season and was quickly identified as a primary target by Rangers.

"I went down there nearly as a wee boy and I feel I have come back as a leader", Arfield said.

While it is likely that a number of new players will arrive at Rangers this summer, their new manager must also ensure he keeps the best talent now at the club and, despite his inconsistencies, Windass certainly falls into that category. "As soon as the interest came in it was something I wanted to go for".

And after a three-year spell with the Terriers, the midfielder chose to join Burnley in 2013, where he played three seasons in the Premier League.

Rahul continued his scintillating form in the IPL by smacking two fours and seven sixes as Punjab's top order crumbled around him. When neither of the two have performed, RCB have looked a completely different team altogether and hasn't scared another team.

Gerrard officially takes charge at Ibrox on June 1st with the target of making Rangers title challengers in the Scottish Premiership once more.

"If you don't get excited by it, you shouldn't walk through the front door", he said. "[His appointment] has given a boost to the whole game in this country".

The Rangers player clearly has the natural talent and is still a few years away from his peak, so what better place to reach that than at a Gers side led by one of the best midfielders of his generation?

"The manager has a fantastic way that he wants to play and hopefully I can take that on the pitch".

Gerrard said in a statement: "I am delighted to have added Scott Arfield to the squad for next season".
