But, per Sky Sports, the Court of Arbitration (CAS) for Sport upheld an appeal by the World Anti-Doping Agency to extend said ban after it expired this month.

"FIFPro is calling for an urgent meeting with FIFA after football player Paolo Guerrero was suspended for 14 months for accidentally ingesting a banned substance, preventing him from representing Peru at the World Cup", a statement from FIFPro read.

CAS accepted he did not intend to enhance his performance but ruled that Guerrero bore "some fault or negligence, even if it was not significant".

Guerrero had just completed a six-month ban after testing positive for cocaine, which was contained in a tea, when the Court of Arbitration for Sport increased the period to 14 months Monday.

Wada wanted the suspension to be increased to two years, but Guerrero also appealed in the hope it would be annulled.

"This is very hard for me", the player said in a recorded message broadcast on Peru's Canal N.
