The White House said Trump, who had celebrated the success of Roseanne Barr's show earlier in the year, was not defending her racist tweet about a former Obama adviser, but wanted to point out media bias against him.

He also told ABC News in an interview that "miss [es] the Connors already" and hopes "they can find a home somewhere", referring to the sitcom's fictional family, led by characters Dan and Roseanne Connor - played by John Goodman and Barr.

"I had an assistant who was a young guy and I needed Roseanne to either look at something or sign something and Roseanne had pretty much barricaded her set from executives coming by because she was paranoid".

He added, "She was talking about how exhausted she got doing that television show". "I wasn't gonna get an Emmy anyway", he said when asked if he thought the Barr controversy would cost him the award.

"And I'm like, 'That's impossible.' Like, I was groggy, but I'm like, 'That's impossible, 20 million people are watching that show.' And she said, 'She tweeted something racist'".

"The people who love the show want more of Roseanne's true self, like this Jarrett thing, and less of the fighting with insane moonbat Jackie". That's who I felt bad for when this whole thing imploded, because I'm like, she put this show together - [star and executive producer] Sara Gilbert - and she was crushing on it, she was really good, showing off what a great actress she is. "I am boycotting the Roseanne reboot because she is a very specific type of Trump supporter". She never published it.

Trump wrote that Iger never called him to apologize for "the frightful statements" that have been said about him on ABC.

Discussing Barr's recent remarks - and the media scrutiny surrounding them - he said, "I don't know anything about it". "She knows he's an asshole".

Roseanne has not yet responded to Trump's comment regarding her firing from ABC, although she did retweet his statement. But it seems she at least thought it "makes a lot more sense [than] most things", as that's what she quote retweeted from another Twitter user named Jimmy Holland.

"She has been all over the map with it", Zimmerman said. Maybe they can say she passed from an aneurysm when her TV accidentally flipped from FOX News to an episode of Black-ish.

Jarrett revealed that Bob Iger, the head of ABC parent company Disney, telephoned her personally to tell her the network was cancelling the show.

"It's a meme that she and thousands of her alt-right fans do", Arnold said.

Roseanne Barr attends the premiere of ABC's revival of "Roseanne" in Burbank, California, on March 23.
