Mohamed Salah has said he did not tell Sergio Ramos things were "fine" after the Real Madrid defender injured the Liverpool forward during last month's Champions League final.

But if the whole incident annoyed fans of the Premier League club, especially as it changed the game in Kyiv, then it was fans in Egypt who were no doubt even more annoyed with the World Cup just round the corner.

Ramos was also widely condemned for his part in the injury with a petition set up urging UEFA to punish the centre-back receiving over 300,000 signatures.

Despite that Liverpool's physiotherapist Rubén Pons claimed the 25-year-old player told him that he holds no bitterness towards Ramos, Salah assured that he received a message from Ramos, "but I never told him it was okay".

That drew a laugh from Salah who responded by saying: "My comment [to that] is that it's always good when the one who made you cry at first, then makes you laugh".

As for Salah, he seems see the amusing side of Ramos' comments on the matter.

"I spoke with Salah after the Champions League final and sent him a message, as I said he is my friend and I want to see him in the World Cup".

"Yes, it was", he added.

After saying his recovery is going well, Salah remembers "when I hit the floor, there was a mix of physical pain and worry".

The scale of Salah's involvement has been uncertain since he left the pitch in tears in Kiev in two weeks ago, a moment he described as the worst of his career.

Belgium's captain and talisman, Eden Hazard, has likened Roberto Martínez's squad to England's famed "golden generation" of players but believes his team-mates can deliver in Russian Federation when the World Cup begins next week.

'Now I'm better. I hope to play the first game against Uruguay, but that will depend on how I feel when it approaches, ' he said.

Egypt will also face hosts Russian Federation and Saudi Arabia in the the tournament, their first World Cup in almost three decades.

Salah and the Egyptian squad are expected to arrive in Russian Federation on Sunday, and will be based in Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic.

"I don't think we are physically, tactically and mentally ready. and that's why the Costa Rica game will be important", he said. Maybe like for Spain to win the World Cup.
