One impressed fan described the efforts of the Japanese as his "favourite moment of the World Cup so far", while another added it was an impeccable example of fan behaviour at the tournament.

The World Cup is always an opportunity for nations to share their own unique approach to the handsome game, celebration in victory and the grief of defeat.

First Japan, ranked 61st in the world, became the first Asian side to beat South American opposition at any World Cup, overcoming 16th-ranked Colombia 2-1. And while fans aren't psyched about the own goals, at least some of them are happy to clean up their own mess.
