Apple is reportedly going to introduce multiple new AirPod models next year. Apple's AirPods, which cost $US159, have been popular with consumers.

Apple will also reportedly soon launch its own set of over-the-ear headphones. The company will reduce its reliance on smaller hardware maker Inventec Corp. and expand its partnership with bigger manufacturers like Foxconn Technology Group. The original goal was to get those out by the end of 2018, but development-related challenges have pushed them back to next year. For all the valid criticisms you could level at the HomePod, poor sound quality is certainly not one of them.

A new report has suggested once again that Apple is working on its first in-house pair of over-ear headphones. Described as a "higher-end alternative to the company's Beats line", the no doubt costly Apple-branded audio accessories should compete against similarly premium Bose or Sennheiser products. Although no name for the headphones has yet leaked, they're expected to launch at some point in 2019. Apple said Other Products revenue was up 38% year-over-year in its second quarter, reaching almost $4 billion in total revenue for the period. A spokesperson for Apple declined to comment on the leaked information.
