LeBron James banner removed from Cleveland building after Lakers deal

  • LeBron James was the biggest name available in free agency. He's now a Los Angeles Laker

Representatives from the team will meet Sunday with James' agent Rich Paul in Los Angeles, a person familiar with the get together told the Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the talks.

It's more complicated than that, though.

Four-time NBA Most Valuable Player James agreed to a four-year deal worth USD154 million on Monday with the Lakers, just hours after the NBA free agency period began.

"LeBron, you came home and delivered the ultimate goal", Gilbert said in a statement. If Rondo outplays Ball in any significant manner, it may deflate Ball's value on the market and make it more hard to swing a deal for Leonard.

If there's one thing that we've learned this offseason, it's that Magic Johnson can get things done. Think about what Johnson's career arc looks like.

Nikki Bella Finds Dream Dress for Wedding to John Cena
John said he would have kids, they kissed and made up and now were back at square one. Nikki Bella is breaking her silence on her relationship with John Cena .

That begs the question: What are Magic and LeBron thinking? Saturday's meeting between the two merely formalised the relationship. James joins the purple and gold that has 16 National Basketball Association championships and 31 conference titles won over six decades by some of the greatest players in the history of the game: Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, James Worthy, Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West and Magic. Sure, Bronny, 13, likely could reach his basketball potential anywhere - disposable income has that effect. Not bad numbers for a rookie, but not great either, and if anyone is going to help LeBron thrive in L.A., it might just be the much more experienced Rondo. Johnson has positioned the team to be built into a monster.

On paper, you can see where the Lakers are going with this, in trying to add some more versatile defenders and playmakers, but were Stephenson, Rondo and McGee really the players to fill out that vision? Then Golden State pulled off a massive surprise, agreeing to terms with All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins on a one-year, $5.3 million deal. The monster could be looming over the Western Conference in the near future. Talking with the Spurs about a Kawhi Leonard trade will be Johnson's biggest and most hard task, but if he can get a deal done, LeBron will have his needed sidekick.

The grass should now be greener for James, who opted out of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Lakers.

"Kevin Durant ain't coming to L.A. Kevin Durant plans to stay in Golden State". Fun fact: that same banner was also taken down in 2010 when James went to play for the Miami Heat.
