  • Justin Trudeau Denies Sexually Assaulting Reporter at Music Festival

Rose Knight has come forward, revealing her identity as the woman who said that she was groped by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2000 during a Creston Music Festival.

In the days that followed, an editorial appeared in the Creston Valley Advance alleging Trudeau had apologized to an unnamed female reporter at the newspaper after "groping" her at the event.

A woman claiming to be the former reporter confirmed Trudeau apologized a day after the incident occurred in a statement released on Friday. She said he apologized to her and her newspaper the next day upon learning that Knight was a reporter.

After initially telling reporters that he did not remember any "negative interactions" on the day of the event, Trudeau conceded on Thursday that he had apologised to the woman at the time.

Trudeau's apology, the editorial noted, amounted to "I'm sorry". "I was assigned to cover the August 2000 Creston music festival by my employer and was the reporter referred to in the editorial. Who knows where her mind was and I fully respect her ability to experience something differently". The Post has chosen not to name the reporter, and though she has declined requests for comment, the Post understands she herself wrote the editorial making public the allegation.

Trudeau, 46, said he does not remember the incident the same way Knight does.

Trudeau said Friday, "I think there is an awakening going on right now and I think it's a good thing but it also requires all of us to be having hard conversations, difficult reflections and model the kind of responsibilities and reflections that we have to have moving forward".
