San Antonio Spurs: Tony Parker departs for the Hornets

  • Tony Parker agrees to deal with Hornets, reports say

Parker, the 2007 NBA Finals MVP, is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Hornets and informed the Spurs of his decision, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski (via Twitter).

Tony Parker #9 of the San Antonio Spurs handles the ball against the Los Angeles Lakers on April 4, 2018 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California. However, he has a close friend on the Hornets in fellow Frenchman Nic Batum. The new coach, James Borrego, is a former Spurs assistant who knows Parker well.

Via Sam Amick of USA Today, Gregg Popovich spoke on Parker's departure from San Antonio.

The point guard was a true cornerstone of the San Antonio franchise as he is only the third player in National Basketball Association history to play at least 17 seasons with one team before leaving alongside Karl Malone (18 seasons) and Hakeem Olajuwon (17 seasons).

Parker averaged a career-low 7.7 points, 3.5 assists and 1.7 rebounds per game last season.

Cave rescue to start if heavy rains begin
More than 100 Thai navy SEALs have been working around the clock to retrieve the stranded football team in a race against nature. But light rains Friday morning broke a relatively dry spell around the rescue site, and more rain is forecast in coming days.

Parker, speaking to The Undefeated today, denied he ever had a problem with Leonard saying: "We never had an argument".

Parker is the third player in National Basketball Association history to play at least 17 seasons with one team before leaving.

Anthony and Howard will be on the move, seeking theirs. He has said he will not accept a reserve role, and by parting with him - somehow - the Thunder could save more than $90 million in luxury tax payments. Their beef, which stemmed from comments Parker made in March about how his quad injury previous year was "100 times worse", was apparently blown way out of proportion. But there will be suitors for him, with the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and Miami Heat all believed to have interest.

Parker signed with the Charlotte Hornets this offseason. I think we're going to leave on good terms. Parker wants to play at least 20 years in the National Basketball Association.
