  • Johnny Depp Sued for Alleged Assault on 'City of Lies' Set

Johnny plays a Los Angeles police detective who investigates the crime.

Brad Furman, the director, responded to the allegations in a statement to Page Six, where he referred to the claims as "exaggerated", and described Depp as a "consummate professional", as well as a "great collaborator".

Months after a director denied that Johnny Depp attacked a film crew member, the actor is being sued for the alleged assault. Depp allegedly answered, "I don't give a f*** who you are and you can't tell me what to do!"

Location manager Gregg "Rocky" Brooks filed a lawsuit on Friday, July 6 that alleges that the actor physically and verbally assaulted him on set, Us Weekly confirms. "When PLAINTIFF did not react to DEPP's satisfaction after being punched, DEPP yelled "I WILL GIVE YOU ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS TO PUNCH ME IN THE FACE RIGHT NOW!" Brooks says that he was told to instruct Depp of the request, but wanted an on-set LAPD officer to assist him in doing so because he knew Depp "may become upset". "The next step was, 'You're going to arrive somewhere with your eyes open and you're going to leave there with your eyes closed.' I couldn't take the pain every day".

Depp's bodyguards had to intercede to keep him away from Brooks, according to the suit.

According to the legal documents, Depp then punched Brooks twice in the rib cage.

According to the legal document, Brooks was sacked for choosing not to sign a document stating he would not sue the production company over the incident. He is seeking an unspecified amount of money for actual and punitive damages.

Depp is now involved in another legal battle with ex-managers and is suing his former lawyers after claiming they cheated him out of millions of dollars. City of Lies is expected to hit theaters September 7.

IndieWire has reached out to Depp's representative for comment, but at the time of writing there was no response.
