Spanish giants Real Madrid could reportedly pay €330 million (R5.1 billion) to sign Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar, following Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Juventus.

Both the football club and the carmaker are controlled by the Agnelli family through their holding company.

After nine years, four Champions League crowns and two La Liga titles with Real Madrid, Ronaldo completed a surprise move to Italy's Serie A earlier this week, saying "the time has come to open a new stage in my life".

Real Madrid have drawn up a three-man shortlist to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

"It's unacceptable that, while FCA and CNHI workers continue to make huge economic sacrifices, the company spends hundreds of millions of euros on the purchase of a player", Lavoro Privato, a spokesperson for the Union of Base Workers Syndicate, said in a statement.

He added: "The marketing leverage that Juventus will be able to create will be significant. That means more sponsors, more TV money and more prize money".
