Page, who has been under fire for exchanging anti-Trump text messages with Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Peter Strzok during the 2016 presidential election, was subpoenaed by House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte, according to reports. She and Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Peter Strzok, who is set to testify publicly before the committees Thursday, exchanged disparaging text messages about then-candidate Donald Trump throughout the 2016 campaign.
"Ex-FBI LAYER Lisa Page today defied a House of Representatives issued Subpoena to testify before Congress!" wrote Trump.
"Lisa and I went to the Federal Bureau of Investigation today to review the materials that were previously produced to Congress relating to her proposed interview, but after waiting for more than three hours, we were not provided with any documents".
"Lisa Page is a key witness, and it is critical that she come before our committees to answer questions as part of our investigation", he said. "The Committees have not honored this request".
Earlier he said Page appears to have "something to hide" by not appearing.
Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) threatened Page that he would enforce the subpoena, but has yet to do so. They could hold her in the Capitol jail, but that sort of thing hasn't been done since 1935. "She has an obligation to come testify".
"A subpoena to testify before Congress is not optional, it's mandatory", Ryan said.
Page was subpoenaed to provide a deposition behind closed doors on Wednesday, but she didn't appear under Jeffress's advice. However, on Tuesday, Page showed signs of cold feet when her lawyer, Amy Jeffress, issued a statement complaining about Committee staff.

Strzok and Page were both members of the special counsel Robert Mueller had appointed to run the Russian investigation.
Democrats did not say what Strzok's responses to any of the questions were, but they did call for the full transcript of the meeting to be released by Republicans.
During FBI agent Peter Strzok'sclosed-door interview with lawmakers last month, House Republicans seemed to care more about a relationship he had with a colleague and probing the Mueller investigation than they did about Russian Federation interfering with a US election. The first big case on Mueller's agenda comes later this month with his indictment Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort on an array of charges including money laundering, bank fraud, tax evasion, failure to improperly register as an agent of a foreign government and witness tampering.
The two exchanged text messages saying "we'll stop" a Trump presidency, a report by the FBI Inspector General found.
But it also outlined conversations between Strzok and Page that had never before seen the light of day.
Strzok had a leading role in the Clinton probe and was removed from the Mueller investigation after the texts were discovered a year ago.
