  • The All Black Sevens team celebrate retaining the World Cup

The Kiwi side have beaten England in the final at AT&T Park on Monday (NZ time), prevailing 33-12 in a re-match of the final at the previous World Cup in 2013.

Molia's two early tries gave the All Blacks the momentum they needed against an England side who had upset South Africa 29-7 to set up the final at AT&T Park.

It was a remarkable tournament for New Zealand, with the men's and women's teams securing back-to-back World Cups, and both after failing to win this year's World Series.

England hit back though on the stroke of half-time when Mike Ellery found space inside the 22 from Dan Norton's pass for a converted score which made it 14-7 at the break.

Few would have predicted the men's final - a repeat of the 2013 event in Moscow - with Olympic champion Fiji and World Series victor South Africa in the semifinal lineup.

New Zealand closed out the game in style as Akuila Rokolisoa added his team's fourth try, converted by Baker, then Trael Joass took his team past 30 points and Scott Curry converted.

The men's team had been in danger of being knocked out early in the tournament when they had three players sinbinned in their quarter-final against France, but still held on to win 12-7.

The All Blacks Sevens entered the competition seeded third behind Fiji and South Africa - both of whom suffered semifinal defeats - but came through with victories over Russian Federation (29-5), France (12-7) and Fiji (17-22) en route to Sunday's showpiece.

England coach Simon Amor admitted however his side had been unable to reproduce their best form in the final.

'Of course to be in a World Cup final you want to lift it, you want to be winning it, ' he said. "They came through some really close games and played some outstanding rugby".

"Credit to the coaching staff, Clark has come in and he's big on culture and he has really brought the boys together", Mikkelson said.

'Right now I am pretty sore, and pretty gutted, ' he said.

Blyde finished as the tournament's top try-scorer, bagging a treble in the 29-0 final win.

New Zealand's win brought the curtain down on a successful first ever Rugby World Cup event on U.S. soil, with more than 102,000 spectators attending the three days of the event.

Elsewhere Sunday, Samoa's campaign ended in disgrace with player Gordon Langkilde thrown out of the tournament for his part in a tunnel bust-up following Saturday's defeat to Wales.

This was confirmed in a statement issued by World Rugby.
