Whyte accepted the risky fight in an attempt to force a rematch with Anthony Joshua or a challenge at WBC champion Deontay Wilder.
The opening round demonstrated the difficulty Whyte could potentially face against his 26-year-old opponent, whose speed advantage allowed him to succeed with the jab, and move in and out of range.
Whyte's power was in display in the ninth round when he knocked down Parker with a vicious left hook that connected square on Parker's jaw.
Joshua, who gave Whyte his only professional defeat back in December 2015, is now preparing to take on Russian mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin at Wembley Stadium, and has also booked out the venue for next April, which could see him take on either Whyte or American Deontay Wilder.
Whyte and Parker both suffered their only defeats at the hands of Anthony Joshua, and both desperately needed a win in order to stay relevant in the division.
Chisora, who knocked out France's Carlos Takam in the eighth round in a thrilling fight on the undercard, suggested Parker had lost his hunger after two big pay-days against Joshua and Whyte in 2018.

"There's Wilder and Joshua, but to fight one of those two I'm going to have to wait until April". Look how good he was in his past fight - he looked tremendous and did a great job.

Whyte feels the victory makes him worthy of a fight for a world title though the timing of such a bout is uncertain.
"This man's got a massive future and a massive career [ahead]", the Jamaican-born Brit told Sky Sports UK. He took this fight at seven weeks notice and we came to fight.
Parker became ever more tired as the bout went on and was caught out by a ferocious left hook to the jaw in the ninth round which sent him to the canvas again. And in the seventh round I was thinking maybe they should pull him [Chisora] out, that he was taking too much punishment. He's a champ, he's experienced - I got a win on a big show but he is more experienced than me.
Parker for several rounds became hesitant, fighting with the same lack of ambition, and perhaps belief, that had contributed to his defeat by Joshua.
Hughie Fury Tyson's 23-year-old cousin was outpointed by Parker when they fought for the WBO title last year, but remains fresh and retains enough pedigree to eventually earn another world title shot. I want to dedicate it to my daughter and missus.
