For the past year, MoviePass subscribers have been able to see one movie at participating theatres any movie they desired per day for a monthly fee of $9.99.

Subscribers have balked at what they see as a bait-and-switch, but MoviePass explains it as preferable to the alternative, which would be to raise subscription prices across the board.
"We ask for your understanding and vocal support during this time, as we continue to fundamentally change an industry that hasn't evolved much in years", it said. At $14.95 a month, it's still cheaper than AMC's new subscription service, and for anyone who goes to the movies frequently it's still cheaper than rival services like Sinemia.
