President Donald Trump is hinting he and Kim Jong-Un could have another meeting, thanking the North Korean leader for his recent letter and adding 'I look forward to seeing you soon'.

The remains were initially transferred to United Nations control on Tuesday in Osan, South Korea before being sent to Hawaii, where Vice President Mike Pence received the 55 cases now draped in the American flag.

'Thank you to Chairman Kim Jong Un for keeping your word & starting the process of sending home the remains of our great and beloved missing fallen!

"That surprised me a little bit, that they took put that kind of care into the effort". White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the correspondence was "aimed at following up on their meeting in Singapore and advancing the commitments made in the US-DPRK joint statement".

McKeague said he was "guardedly optimistic" that North Korea would agree to the return of more remains and also to joint recovery operations with the U.S.at former battlefields and prison camps.

"We have responded to Chairman Kim's letter - the president has - and that letter will be delivered shortly", Sanders told reporters.

Trump and Kim met in Singapore in June, where they announced an agreement in which Kim reaffirmed his "unwavering" commitment to denuclearize.
