Ewan McGregor stars as the eponymous Christopher Robin, while Jim Cummings returns to voice Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, and Brad Garrett joins as Eeyore.

In second place with a $25 million debut from 3,602 screens was the Mouse House's live-action feature Disney's Christopher Robin.

Livescore: Result of Manchester United vs Bayern Munich
United ended their preparations for the new season in uninspiring fashion, struggling to threaten Manuel Neuer's goal. Anthony Martial could remain at Manchester United this season, according to the Mirror .

Also arriving in wide release was a lightly marketed, poorly reviewed science-fiction thriller called "The Darkest Minds", which cost 20th Century Fox roughly $34 million to make and sold $5.8 million in tickets.

It marks the rare Disney film not to open at No. 1, though the studio had other milestones to celebrate.

Also of note: Disney has announced that "Black Panther" has taken in more than $700 million in North America since its release in February, joining only "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and "Avatar" in that exclusive category.

Next weekend sees the arrival of Spike Lee's acclaimed BlacKKKlansman, The Meg and something called Slender Man.
