McDonald's salads have been linked to even more cases of cyclosporiasis.

The FDA noted that ill patients from Connecticut, Tennessee and Virginia purchased salads while traveling in IL, and that the Florida patient purchased a salad in Kentucky. A week later, that number jumped to 163 sick individuals in 10 states, with three hospitalizations.

Fresh Express, a California produce company owned by Chiquita Brands, is linked to an outbreak that sickened almost 400 people in 15 states who ate salads from McDonald's.

McDonald's said in a statement on July 13 that it had removed the salad mix from it's impacted restaurants and replaced it with a different supplier. So far, 16 of these cases have been severe to the point of hospitalization.

Federal safety officials issued a public health alert earlier this week about salads and wraps distributed nationwide by Caito Foods in Indianapolis, Indiana, and containing chopped romaine lettuce recalled by Fresh Express.

According to that report, there have been 395 lab-confirmed illnesses from an outbreak of the cyclospora parasite, which causes intestinal illness.

Fresh Express says the bad salads were only sold to McDonald's and were not shipped to grocers. Stay on top of breaking news stories with the ABC11 News AppAccording to the Food and Drug Administration, an unused package of Fresh Express salad mix tested positive for Cyclospora. The expiration date on the salad, July 19, had already passed.

The FDA is reviewing supplier information for romaine lettuce and carrots.
