Two elderly men ditched their nursing home in Germany on Friday, and ended up at what's widely considered the world's largest heavy metal festival. It's unclear whether their original intent was to attend the festival.
They were ushered into a taxi, which was given a police escort back to the nursing home.
The festival in the northern German town of Wacken attracts 75,000 metal fans - as well as the two aging rockers. The problem is, they leave them behind when they go.
It was a pretty hardcore festival, with bands such as Cannibal Corpse, Die From Sorrow and Centuries of Decay on the lineup.
"Both were disoriented and apathetic", Merle Neufeld, a local police spokesman, told NDRbroadcaster.
The men were reportedly not particularly keen on leaving the festival, so police had to escort them back to their nursing home via a taxi and a patrol auto.
Officers were eventually able to persuade the men to leave and they were escorted away with the help of a taxi and patrol vehicle, according to a police spokeswoman.
Although mud is usually an issue with outdoor festivals, Deutsche Welle reports that a heatwave caused concern for fire and dust risks. "How cool is that, please?" Tens of thousands of visitors descend on Wacken to join the approximately 1,800 townsfolk, who are permitted to attend the festival for free.
Then, the festival added in English: "You're never too old too rock".
