In the suit, Moore says he believed he was appearing on a network called Yerushalayim TV - which doesn't exist - and was going to receive an award for his support of Israel. Cohen tweeted ahead of the show's finale last month.

"If this is an instrument", he continues, "certainly, I'm not a pedophile".

Moore then says, "Maybe Israeli technology hasn't been developed properly", shaking Cohen's hand and ending the interview.

Moore is suing comedian Sacha Baron Cohen for defamation after being pranked on Cohen's television show, "Who is America?".

"Defendant Cohen and his agents including defendants Showtime and CBS knowingly made this false material representation to fraudulently induce Judge Moore to appear on the program, with Mrs. Moore present, where Defendant Cohen and defendants Showtime and CBS would falsely portray, mock and defame Judge Moore as a pedophile".

"Sacha Baron Cohen, who is not only low class but also a fraudster, will now, along with Showtime and CBS, be held accountable for his outrageous and false, fraudulent and defamatory conduct which callously did great emotional and other damage to his great man and his wife and family".

Moore has been the subject of "widespread ridicule and humiliation and has suffered severe loss of reputation" as a result of the show, according to the court documents. "With that said, we do not comment on pending litigation", a spokesperson from Showtime told TIME.

Representatives for Baron Cohen have not responded to the lawsuit, filed in a federal court in Washington. " on the Showtime cable channel, which is part of the CBS Corporation".

The episode came months after a number of women came forward with allegations against Moore, accusing him of initiating sexual relationships with them when they were in high school and he was an adult. He has denied the misconduct allegations.
