Elon Musk smokes weed on Joe Rogan podcast

  • Elon Musk smokes a blunt live on You Tube with podcaster Joe Rogan

The two-and-a-half hour interview covered everything from artificial intelligence to Tesla, his private space company SpaceX and love.

He told Rogan he thinks that merging humans with computers is the approach that "seems probably the best for us: if you can't beat it, join it".

Rogan described it as marijuana inside tobacco, and asked if Musk had ever tried it.

"I mean it's legal, right?", Musk responded, as he accepted the joint and took a puff. On Rogan's podcast, Musk made news by apparently taking a hit off Rogan's marijuana.

Although he later announced that Tesla would remain a publicly traded company to appease shareholders, that tweet spurred the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to launch an investigation into the veracity of Musk's statement.

Footage of the interview also shows Musk using a flamethrower.

Trump Calls Scathing New York Times Op-Ed ‘Gutless’
However, Trump, speaking to reporters at the White House, lashed out at the daily, saying that "anonymous, meaning gutless, editorial ".

While it is, again, another chapter in the "wacky adventures" of Elon Musk, I suspect that this is going to be another faux pas in the coming days. The chairman and CEO of both Tesla and Space Exploration Technologies Corp., among other companies, recently gave an emotional interview to The New York Times in which he said friends were anxious about exhaustion. During the at-times awkward back and forth, Musk spilled upcoming plans for an electric airplane while sharing whiskey and a joint with host Joe Rogan.

Tesla shares fell as much as 10 percent to $252.25 as of 9:46 a.m.in NY, the steepest intraday drop since June 2016. I think Joe might, however, be right about the stockholders.

Chief Accounting Officer Dave Morton gave notice Tuesday that he was resigning less than a month into the job, according to a filing.

As mentioned, the reasons for the stock dropping go beyond Musk smoking marijuana - including two Tesla executives resigning.

"I have a design for a plane", said Musk (partial transcript via The Verge), adding, "I've thought about this quite a lot, quite a lot. I want to be clear that I believe strongly in Tesla, its mission, and its future prospects, and I have no disagreements with Tesla's leadership or its financial reporting", Morton was quoted as saying.

The reactions online to Thursday night's podcast included Guardian reporter Julia Carrie Wong tweeting, "I've lost it", while tracking the interview.
