The new iPhones are said to be modeled around the design language first seen with last year's iPhone X. In turn, it means that Apple will do away with Touch ID and use of fingerprint sensors for biometric authentication altogether this year.

At the time, many suspected (including ourselves) Rambo had somehow snapped the pictures of these unreleased products from Apple's live event test stream, which was taking place that day.

Apple's invite for the september 12 launch in the United States was in gold, hinting at the return of the hue that was absent in last year's iPhone X, which came only in white and black.

By making more expensive iPhones, Apple has been able to boost its profits despite waning demand as people upgrade phones less frequently.

Google is also expected to announce a new version of its Pixel smartphone when it holds its own event in October. What they got was the iPhone X - Ten - that, while not revolutionising the range, did at least push it into something of a new design phase.

According to leaks and investor report from former KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the new iPhones will start at $699 in the US.

Samsung and Huawei - who along with Apple make up the top three phone makers by market share - have already launched critically acclaimed flagship smartphones this year, placing more pressure on Apple to deliver with its latest iPhone.

As indicated, there might be the large iPhone XS Max and apart from the 6.5-inch display, Apple could try out a 3-camera setup and support for the Apple Pencil on this model. The social media is pouring with tweets and Facebook posts about the rumoured iPhone XC aka iPhone 9 aka 6.1-inch LCD iPhone along with the iPhone XS models that are likely to boast OLED screens.

Historically, Apple is not known for parity between pricing of its device in the United States and other markets.

It also brought the iPhone into a new price bracket: $999. There's really no point for Apple to continue to limit the outlets it streams to.

But, of course, Apple's strength is in ignoring such emerging technologies until they feel the time is right to build it into their products.

A low-priced version of the iPhone X, with a 6.1-inch screen, it is expected to attract mass attention. Although this is unlikely because Apple will want this event to be mostly about the iPhone, and launching a new iPad will take some focus away from the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Plus and the iPhone XC. The iPhone XS Max may become the talk of the town if one were to go by rumors and speculations. We'd know for sure once the devices are launched.
