Former White House aide pushes back on book

  • New book alleges chaos in Trump White House

Trump had some unusual idea about the national debt: Another anecdote involving Cohn, the former director of the National Economic Council, claims that Trump suggested printing money to pay off the national debt: "Just run the presses - print money", the Woodward book quotes Trump as saying.

It was also at this National Security Council meeting that Trump suggested cutting off all security-related aid for Pakistan - almost six months before he actually suspended funding on January 1 - saying Islamabad wasn't helping Washington in the Afghan war.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, according to Woodward's reporting, also reportedly said that Mr. Trump had the comprehension of "a fifth- or sixth-grader".

Porter said he was "struck by the selective and often misleading portrait it paints of the president and his administration". While he said the book contained "inaccuracies", as Axios reports, he wasn't specific about what the book supposedly got wrong.

"You've got to deny, deny, deny and push back on these women", Trump said, according to Woodward.

President Donald Trump has hit out at Bob Woodward's "joke" new book, calling it "fiction" and promising to write the "real book" about his presidency, as unflattering allegations from the upcoming release keep spreading online.

But, the president is no stranger to women accusing him of misdeeds. At least 19 women have publicly accused Trump of kissing them, touching them inappropriately or having an affair with him while he was married. "I would say 'Okay, name me who was there". This has not been treated seriously enough.

"Trump in the White House", made some astounding revelations and painted a picture of a chaotic White House, with aides at their wit's end with the commander-in-chief.

"There's one scene last year in the Pentagon where Trump is there and Secretary of State [Rex] Tillerson said, 'This is what's kept the peace for 70 years, '" Woodward recalled, referring to a conversation about national security protocols.

He added: "'These are political statements to protect their jobs, totally understandable". Woodward goes on "The Daily Briefing" to talk about his new book 'Fear'.

"One key person who's in office called me and said, "Everyone knows what you said here is true". Dems can't stand losing. Woodward claimed to have snuck into Casey's hospital room and done the interview.

Asked later whether the White House would list all the things in Woodward's book that are wrong, Sanders said such an exercise "would be a complete and utter waste of our time, so no".
