  • Washington Post: Kavanaugh accuser comes forward

Both have indicated they are willing to testify about the allegations.

Feinstein issued a statement on Sunday afternoon in support of Ford and calling for the FBI to investigate the matter before the Senate advances Kavanaugh's nomination.

"This is a completely false allegation", Kavanaugh said in a statement Monday morning.

Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins, one of the key swing votes on the nomination, said she wanted both Kavanaugh and Ford to testify under oath before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which plans to vote on the nomination Thursday. Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, told reporters after speaking with Kavanaugh Monday that Kavanaugh said he was not even at the party in question. Dianne Feinstein, California Democrat and a Judiciary Committee member, via her local U.S. House member - Democratic Rep. Anna Eshoo.

"I worked on the Feinstein campaign in '92, and shame on her for doing this, for having us have this conversation, for that woman now having to be in that position", Bruce said.

Earlier Monday, the White House issued a statement reiterating that Kavanaugh denies the allegations, which surfaced last week without the name of the accuser.

McCaskill has been closely scrutinized by both sides of the aisle for how she'll vote on President Donald Trump's nominee as she runs for re-election in a state Trump won by double digits. Most importantly I want the American people to be happy because they're getting somebody that is great. He is an outstanding intellect and outstanding judge respected by everybody. The president said Kavanaugh had "never had even a little blemish". "If it takes a little delay it'll take a little delay".

The statements allow for the possibility that Judiciary Committee would receive dueling testimony about the alleged incident decades ago, which could threaten Trump's attempt to install a conservative in the place of frequent swing vote Justice Anthony Kennedy, potentially altering the balance of the court for a generation.

Sens. Jeff Flake, Ariz., and Bob Corker, Tenn., Republicans who are retiring at the end of this term, have joined Democrats in urging a delay in the vote until the committee hears from Ford.

"As I said earlier, anyone who comes forward as Dr. Ford has done deserves to be heard".

"She had interviews with Judge Kavanaugh, she didn't tell the committee, she didn't tell the Federal Bureau of Investigation".

"I know that in the coming days, her story will be scrutinized, and she will be accused of lying", Burgess said. She did not announce what the accusations against him are or who is making them.

It's deeply disturbing that the existence of these allegations were leaked in a way that seemed to preclude Dr. Ford's confidentiality.

"I thought he might inadvertently kill me", Ms. Ford said. The 53-year-old judge was there to meet with the White House legal team to prepare for potential interviews or questions from the Judiciary Committee, a source familiar with the matter said. Wilkinson has not returned calls from CNN seeking comment.

"We want to go through a full process" to air Christine Blasey Ford's allegation that, when they were high school students, Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her, Trump said.

Judge denied the allegation in an interview with The Weekly Standard on Friday.

Attempted rape is a serious allegation at any age, and anyone dismissing a heinous act as the one described by Christine Blasey Ford as a simple youthful mistake is a central part of the problem with misogyny in America.

"She does", Katz replied.

"Does she consider this an attempted rape?" asked Today host Savanah Guthrie.

A committee vote on Kavanaugh's nomination is scheduled for Thursday.

On Sunday evening, a pair of outgoing Republican senators said outright that the Senate Judiciary Committee should not vote on Kavanaugh's nomination until they talk to his accuser.

"For me, we can't vote until we hear more", Flake told the Washington Post.
