A similar section of Wales and the Cornish peninsular are also expected to bear the brunt of any storm-like weather, although much of the rest of England could be noticeably windier by the time Helene hits land on Tuesday morning.

Hazards could include damage to buildings, falling trees or benches, power curs, flying debris and roads and bridges closed.

It is thought 1.6in (40mm) of rainfall could fall over parts of Ireland.

Temperatures in the central belt and southern parts of Scotland will reach up to 17C or 18C today and potentially 19C tomorrow, due to the warmer air brought in by the storm.

Drying conditions will vary, and are expected to be generally moderate to poor at times with spells of wet and windy weather at times over the coming week. It comes after Sunday's United Kingdom hotspot arrived in Cambridge which got up to 75.7F (24.3C). The center of Helene was about 405 miles north of the Azores, the NHC said in its latest and last advisory. It will be a humid day with highs of 17° to 20°, Met Eireann forecasts.

Winds: Sustained or frequent winds gusts up to or in excess of 74 miles per hour are possible in the Hurricane Watch area Friday. An outer band associated with Isaac will bring some scattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms to Barbados today.

"Driving in heavy rain is something that motorists across the country are well practiced in and ultimately it does not appear that Helene will bring weather conditions anywhere near as serious as what parts of the country saw a year ago with Ophelia". If Helene moves further west more of Northern Ireland may be prone to strong winds, whereas if it moves a bit further east Northern Ireland will be out of the path.

Winds have reached around 60mph along exposed coasts of the South West and Wales this morning and it has been a noticeably warm start to Tuesday, with temperatures around 19 or 20C.

'High gusts in the 50s or low 60s mph area also possible over high ground in northern England during the early hours of Tuesday'.

Meanwhile in the Republic of Ireland, people are being warned of flooding.
