  • Kavanaugh: Yale Classmate Says Supreme Court Nominee Has ‘Not Told the Truth’ About His Drinking

According to a New York Times report, Brett Kavanaugh, coming from a UB40 concert, got into an altercation after mistaking a man for the lead singer of the band.

The writer Emily Bazelon, who helped to report the scoop along with Ben Protess in an article published Monday titled "Kavanaugh Was Questioned by Police After Bar Fight in 1985", previously bashed the SCOTUS nominee on Twitter, deeming him a threat to democracy and society.

The report said 21-year-old Dom Cozzolino told police that Mr Kavanaugh threw ice at him for "some unknown reason". It's not known whether Dudley was ever charged with a crime.

The police report referred to the altercation as "an assault", according to the Times. The spokesperson, however, said the reporting should have been assigned to another person. A witness reportedly said that Chris Dudley, a close friend of Kavanaugh's who has come out in support of his nomination, then hit the man in the ear with a glass.

Dudley's attorney, Mark Sherman, said Tuesday he believes the report is mistaken and meant to indicate his client was "detained" rather than "arrested".

The White House did not have any immediate reaction on behalf of itself or Kavanaugh, but directed CNN to comments made by Chris Dudley, a close friend of Kavanaugh's and a former National Basketball Association player. Kavanaugh, who was not arrested, was attending Yale University.

"I will say it again, we drank in college". "He drank heavily. He was a partier. The problem is lying about it", Swisher said on "Cuomo Prime Time". "I never saw him be sexually aggressive, but he definitely was sloppy drunk". "I would also like to point out that going out never came before working hard and maintaining our focus on our goals". James Roche said Kavanaugh was a "notably heavy drinker, even by the standards of the time, and that he became aggressive and belligerent when he was very drunk".

The professor, Chad Ludington, said he frequently saw Judge Kavanaugh "staggering from alcohol consumption" during their student years.

The FBI is investigating Kavanaugh over multiple sexual assault allegations against him from four women, following testimonies from him and his first accuser, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, on Thursday and amid pressure from Senators and the public. The incident reportedly occurred at a bar called Demery's.

The report was a freaky twist in Kavanaugh's continuing attempts to make it to the Supreme Court, and provided a rare opportunity for some levity to those following the story.

The New Haven Superior Court confirmed it has no records related to this incident and said the records would have been destroyed per its records "destruction schedule".
