"An NBC spokesperson has finally said, "'Megyn Kelly Today' is not returning".

While Kelly has since apologized for her comments in a letter to NBC, following up with an emotional on-air apology on her Wednesday morning edition, NBC said on Friday that she would no longer be presenting the 9 AM hour of the Today show.

The network on Friday again aired a repeat of "Megyn Kelly Today" just as it did Thursday following this week's controversy.

In the latest report by NBC itself, sources said Kelly was still in discussions with executives about her future at the network.

While at Fox, Kelly cultivated a reputation for toughness and a willingness to challenge conservative orthodoxy. It's unclear whether she will receive a new role within NBC News or leave the network. Kelly was wooed away from Fox News in 2017 by NBC, which is reportedly paying her almost $20 million a year.

A former local news reporter and lawyer, Kelly elevated her profile during the 2016 presidential election when she squared off against Donald Trump and his surrogates, such as Newt Gingrich.

18 killed as Jordan flash flood sweeps away students
Last week, flash flooding also killed five people across Tunisia, including a six-year-old child who drowned in Sidi Bouzid. Jordan's state news agency Petra said Prime Minister Omar Razzaz was at the scene to oversee the rescue mission.

Kelly is in the second year of a three-year contract that reportedly pays her more than $20 million (around P1.07 billion) a year. Hall's and Roker's combined salaries were less than half of what NBC was paying Kelly, The Wall Street Journal reported. She then spoke about how white people who put on blackface and how black people who put on whiteface "get in trouble", but that it was "okay" when she was a kid as long as they dressed as a character. And I'm sure she's telling the truth.

Kelly's friend Eleanor McManus, a crisis manager who appeared on Kelly's show several times, argued that NBC's treatment of Kelly was retaliatory for her reporting on the #MeToo movement - particularly her attention to allegations against NBC and its stars.

It didn't stop Melissa Harris-Perry declaring Hall deserved the job when a fan on Twitter suggested she take over Kelly's show. "She is one of the biggest advocates for women". She has accused Fox co-founder Roger Ailes of sexually harassing her. Ailes died in May 2017.

Maybe it's just that the show often felt stiff and awkward ― a characteristic of the program that became the subject of a satirical daily Jezebel column, "Megyn Kelly Today, Today". She seemed to find her footing, though, by focusing episodes on victims of sexual harassment as those stories came to the forefront. She also gave a platform to allegations against NBC News's Tom Brokaw, both of which stirred resentment among her NBC colleagues.

But she had a bumpy road once she reached NBC.
