A company official says a second person is dead after part of an Amazon distribution warehouse collapsed amid severe weather in Baltimore. He added that the second person is still missing.

Baltimore Fire officials say Israel Espana Argote and 54-year-old Andrew Lindsey were killed after heavy wind and rain led to the collapse of a 50-foot wall at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in southeast Baltimore.

The fire department said the weather-related collapse happened at the Amazon Fulfillment Centre late Friday. One person was found under the debris and taken to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead. "Thank you to the emergency response teams who have been working through the night". That caused concrete panels along a 50-foot (15-meter) section of wall to collapse.

Officials are unaware of any other injuries but are continuing to assess the scene. "The safety of our employees and contractors is our top priority and at this time the building remains closed", Lighty said in an email.

Images taken from outside the facility showed a badly damaged truck and a knocked-over light pole, the Sun reported.

"I was standing inside the building and me and one of the facilities dudes were talking, and I went to the left side of the building and he went to the right, and all of a sudden, we just heard these loud noises".
