Now, a British-based workers union General Municipal Boilermakers (GMB) has made a decision to fight back by organizing protests across the U.K., Italy and, Spain. Facebook and Twitter is replete with images with Amazon workers holding placards that read "Jeff Bezos, you're the richest man".

The labour dispute started because Amazon changed employees' work conditions, meaning they now lose out on sick pay or breaks, she said.

According to reports, hundreds of Amazon warehouse workers in Germany, Spain, Italy, England and France have joined the ongoing strike.

"All of our sites are safe places to work and reports to the contrary are simply wrong", Amazon said.

"It is one of the days that Amazon has most sales, and these are days when we can hurt more and make ourselves be heard because the company has not listened to us and does not want to reach any agreement".

Organizers of the protests in the United Kingdom on Thursday stated that the objective of the strike is not to disrupt any of the businesses sales but to raise awareness of the poor conditions workers are living in. "They are breaking bones, being knocked unconscious and being taken away in ambulances" said GMB General Secretary, Tim Roche. "People with kids, homes, bills to pay - they're not robots" Roche added. "We respect the rights of groups and individuals to have their voice, but for us it was business as usual inside our Fulfillment Centres".

Amazon responded with a statement to FN: "Amazon is a fair and responsible employer". These are people making Amazon its money. "That's what we're campaigning for", Roache continues.

Unions said between 85 and 90 percent of the staff were taking part in the industrial action. The company tried to address the criticism in October by announcing all USA warehouse workers would be paid at least $15 an hour, though the company also eliminated some employee stock awards and bonuses.

In October, facing rising political pressure on its home turf after senator Bernie Sanders introduced legislation targeting low rates of pay at the coal face of Amazon's business, the ecommerce giant said it would raise the minimum wage of its U.S. workers to $15 per hour.

"Amazon has invested over 27 billion euros and created over 75,000 permanent jobs across Europe since 2010".

As it reports "record levels" of shopping in the U.K., Amazon is facing pressing concerns during the busiest retail season of the year. According to the UK Government's Health and Safety Executive, Amazon has over 40 per cent fewer injuries on average than other transportation and warehousing companies in the UK.
