  • AWS goes deep and wide with machine learning services and capabilities

Their new program, dubbed Amazon Comprehend Medical, is capable of using machine learning to extract and read data from patients' records, which will help medical professionals identify important information and help practitioners make informed decisions with their patients.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has taken square aim at the data centre by tying in VMware technology and rolling out two new services and on-premise hardware to help customers build and support hybrid clouds. (AWS) that enables developers and data scientists to quickly and easily build, train, and deploy machine learning models at any scale. Additionally, the platform is compatible with a wide variety of input data including text, images, video, audio, and vectors.

The announcement of ARM-based AWS server chips will help Amazon reduce its reliance on Intel's data center processors, challenging the hardware giant through competitive costs. "You will be able to run Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud and Amazon Elastic Block Store on Outposts".

Early attempts by other vendors have fallen short - unable to provide the ability to use the same APIs, the same tools, the same hardware, and the same functionality across on-premises and the cloud, therefore unable to deliver a truly consistent hybrid experience to customers.

"This is a technology that has been nearly completely out of reach to all but the most well-funded and -motivated organizations", the AWS AI programs leader Matt Wood said on November 28, when the DeepRacer was launched during the AWS re:Invent 2018 in Las Vegas, the United States. As a result, developers no longer need to spend time hand tuning their trained models for each and every hardware platform (saving time and expense). AWS will also make Neo available as an open source project. Customers don't need experience in machine learning, either.

Chris Martin curates new GlobalCitizen EP
At first glance, it seems like an unknown band called Los Unidades somehow managed to score a collaboration with Pharrell . This new release, called "E-Lo", features Pharrell and Jozzy , and it's taken from the festival's upcoming accompanying EP.

So, how does Amazon Comprehend Medical work? The fully autonomous race vehicle uses reinforcement learning models from SageMaker and allows the developers to race against each other for prizes in their own DeepRacer League.

Unveiled at re:Invent yesterday, Amazon Outposts is an on-prem data centre system consisting of fully configurable AWS-designed compute and storage racks and AWS software - allowing customers to run compute and storage on-prem and connect to AWS's cloud.

Missing the mark with a forecast can have a significant impact, such as being unable to meet customer demand or significantly over-spending.

In September, reports circulated that Google was challenging Microsoft's on-prem services and developing custom-designed computers for businesses to run in their data centers.

Customers using these new services and capabilities include Adobe, BMW, Cathay Pacific, Dow Jones, Expedia, Formula 1, GE Healthcare, HERE, Intuit, Johnson & Johnson, Kia Motors, Lionbridge, Major League Baseball, NASA JPL,, Ryanair, Shell, Tinder, United Nations, Vonage, the World Bank, and Zillow. Along with this broad range of services and devices, customers are working alongside Amazon's expert data scientists in the AWS ML Lab to implement real-life use cases.
