  • New York police hunt man who dropped engagement ring down drain during wedding proposal

Police in NY are hunting a couple who got engaged in Times Square on Friday but lost the ring down a grate. If you're thinking that he looks panicked, that's because the ring had dropped into a subway grate and he couldn't get it out, reports Mashable.

A man proposing to his girlfriend at the famous Times Square in NY was in for a rude shock when the ring slipped from his finger accidentally and fell into the gutter right below his feet.

The couple asked police for help after dropping the ring, but then left without giving the NYPD their contact information, according to the Associated Press.

Police posted more photos of the couple on Sunday before announcing about an hour later that they finally found the duo.

NYPD tweeted a photo of the happy couple, adding: "Case closed".

The BBC has spoken to the couple who had flown to NY to celebrate their 10 year dating anniversary.
