  • Activision and Bungie announce end of their partnership

Bungie, the development team behind video game megahit Destiny, is parting ways with publisher Activision.

Destiny 2 players on PC will also be able to breath easy with Blizzard announcing that the title will continue to receive full support on BattleNet and players won't notice any disruption in their service or gameplay.

Some of the folks inside Bungie were not able to contain their excitement over the split, including Eric Osborne, the game's marketing director and contributing writer.

"The planned transition process is already underway in its early stages, with Bungie and Activision both committed to making sure the handoff is as seamless as possible", the letter reads. This will mark the end of a 10-year contract established in 2010, which saw Activision help Bungie to launch its first post-Halo project after it gained its independence from former owner Microsoft. The studio is surely now one of the biggest independent developers out there, but going by numerous reports and whispers over the last few years, this is a position that Bungie is happy to find itself in.

2019 launch for second-generation EPYC CPUs confirmed at AMD keynote
AMD says it's up to 29 percent faster in gaming applications than its previous flagship, the Radeon RX Vega 64 . That's mighty competitive with a GeForce RTX 2080 based card, which typically come in at around the $770 point.

Even though it seems that Bungie will want to stay the course immediately following its break with Activision, it'll still be interesting to see where things go from here.

"We'll continue to deliver on the existing Destiny roadmap, and we're looking forward to releasing more seasonal experiences in the coming months, as well as surprising our community with some exciting announcements about what lies beyond". It would also like to assure players that it will deliver on the current Destiny road map, so there's no need to worry about this breaking up the flow of your game. 'We have enjoyed a successful eight-year run and would like to thank Activision for their partnership on Destiny.

As Bungie takes over complete control of Destiny, Activision will increase it's focus on its other IPs. The most recent major entry in the franchise, Destiny 2: Forsaken, was beloved by players but failed to meet Activision's sales standards.

This prompted a response by Destiny director Luke Smith, who stated on Twitter that Bungie is "not disappointed with Forsaken". We hope you'll join us there.
