Peaches and nectarines sold at Ohio Walmarts under recall for listeria concern

The recall affects fruit distributed to ALDI stores in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a recall alert for peaches, nectarines and plums sold in several states due to possible listeria contamination.
Fresh nectarines and peaches sold at Market Basket stores in MA are being recalled due to listeria concerns. A listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women, according to the agency.
Infections caused by listeria can be fatal in children, the elderly, or people with weakened immune systems.
The affected fruit was sold at several produce and grocery stores across the eastern USA and California including Aldi, Costco and Walmart.
The peaches and nectarines sold in bulk have the price look-up number (PLU#) 4044, 3035, or 4378, and show the country of origin of Chile.
No illnesses have been reported.
The N.Y. company has stopped distributing the fruit and an investigation is underway, the FDA said in the news release. Affected nectarines and peaches were distributed to Market Basket locations in MA.
The nectarines sold at Costco are packaged in a 4-pound Rio Duero plastic clamshell with the EAN# 7804650090212. Fairway Market, Hannaford, and Market Basket also sold the fruit, along with other small stores.
Fairway Market in NY sold nectarines and peaches. Customers were urged to return the recalled fruit to where they bought it for a full refund.
