That being said, the Eagles recently informed Foles that they would be picking up his $20 million option for the 2019 season, in an effort to trade him now that the National Football League offseason has begun.

As expected, the Philadelphia Eagles and Nick Foles have begun the process of deciding his future as the organization picked up his contract option Tuesday.

Keeping Foles from the division-rival New York Giants - assuming the Giants decide to move on from Eli Manning - appears to be the biggest consideration as the Eagles toy with the idea of putting the franchise tag on him.

The Eagles and quarterback Nick Foles have reportedly taken the first steps towards separating. If Foles is in the top three of all free agents in annual average value, Philadelphia would be rewarded with a third round compensatory pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Foles is expected to be the most sought after free agent quarterback this year.

But, what made things awkward here is the team traded the man while he was still on the freaking hardwood for them . Barnes was in his third Mavericks season and had been one of Dallas' top two scorers each year.

While Foles seems like a random option for the Redskins the coaching staff has plenty of experience against him in the NFC East.

Foles could also refuse to sign the offer of the tag, as Le'Veon Bell did in 2018 with the Steelers, creating a major headache for the Eagles. Those two moves give the Eagles a fairly easy path to the $15 million they would need right there. We all know (although don't like to remember) he came in for an injured Wentz and led the Eagles through the playoffs.

Wentz was described as "egotistical", "selfish" and "uncompromising" in the story, which cited more than a half-dozen players and other sources, all of whom were quoted anonymously.

Wentz said he would learn from that report.

"It sounds like the Philadelphia Eagles are going to use their franchise tag on Nick Foles", Schefter said. Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz. If there were guys that had issues, in hindsight, I wish we could have just talked about them.
