  • Tyler Johnson has been traded by the Heat to the Suns in a reported three-player deal

The idea of signing Ellington, of course, is contingent upon the team still having an open roster spot following the trade deadline and the Suns granting Ellington his release so the potential signing may not occur for a few days still.

According to multiple reports, the Suns agreed to a deal sending Ryan Anderson to Miami in exchange for Tyler Johnson and Wayne Ellington. He is averaging 10.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 44 games with the Heat this season.

Johnson has spent all five of his National Basketball Association seasons with the Heat.

LaMarcus Aldridge reunited with Kawhi Leonard as Lebron James makes all-star picks
You can tell the trade rumors are getting to the team's young guys, especially with the effort they put forth in IN last game. It took a trade, but Paul George and Russell Westbrook will both play for Team Giannis in the All-Star game.

The Miami Heat without Tyler Johnson will be like playing chess without a rook. He has a player option for next season that calls for him to be paid $19.3 million. Ellington is averaging 8.4 points in 21.3 minutes per game.

Ellington, 31, who was on a one-year, $6.2 million contract, had to give permission for a trade, which agent Mark Bartelstein confirmed to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the tradeoff for gaining his freedom to now sign with a contender. It also allows Miami to have a $6.3 million trade exception to use in the summer. He is in the third year of a four-year $80 million deal.

For the Suns, they receive another guard to add to their rotation. He's in his 5th National Basketball Association season. Anderson on the other hand negotiated to lower his guaranteed salary for the 2019-20 season to $15.6 million last September to help his team at the time, the Houston Rockets, facilitate him being traded to the Suns.
