Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on a cold Saturday afternoon to an enthusiastic crowd gathered in Lawrence, Massachusetts, as she announced her campaign intentions for 2020.

Ms Warren announced her campaign in her home state of MA at a mill site where largely immigrant factory workers went on strike about 100 years ago, a fitting forum for the longtime consumer advocate to advance her platform. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) - introduced Warren Saturday and revealed his endorsement of Warren.

Despite such criticism, several MA lawmakers joined Warren for her Lawrence 2020 campaign launch, including U.S. Reps.

Warren's announcement comes a little more than one month after she announced an exploratory committee, the first step major candidates take when considering a run for president.

The storm over Warren's ancestry claim deepened when she sought to neutralise the attacks by releasing a DNA analysis in October, which said that she had a Native American ancestor "six - 10 generations ago".

"This is the fight of our lives", she said.

Rawding added that she's thrilled Warren chose Lawrence to launch her 2020 Democratic presidential run, particularly in wake of the deadly September gas explosions that impacted the city and surrounding communities. The only thing standing in her way is the continued criticism of her claimed Native American heritage.

Standing against the backdrop of Lawrence's Everett Mills - the site of the "Bread and Roses" labor strike - the Massachusetts Democrat laid out her vision for an America that prioritizes working and middle-class people over the wealthy and well-connected.

Warren is counting on performing well in next year's primary in New Hampshire, where Democrats have tended to favor candidates from nearby states in open primary years.

After her speech in Lawrence, Warren will head that same afternoon to an organizing event in Dover, New Hampshire. "I want to see a revival of civic grace".

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Warren could not say whether she had listed her race as American Indian on other forms at the time.

"It's about dealing with extreme concentrations of wealth", said Stephanie Kelton, a professor at Stony Brook University in NY and former senior economic adviser to the campaign of Senator Bernie Sanders, the Vermont independent who's considering another run for the Democratic nomination.

As supporters cheered and clapped, she also said on Saturday, "I'm opting out ..."

"I can't go back", Warren told The Washington Post.

Warren's announcement will be followed on Sunday by U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, who has said she will reveal her presidential plans in her home state of Minnesota.

"Still, much of the political damage is already done, and Warren's never going to silence critics like President Trump, who gleefully taunts her in racist language", The Globe went on. She meant to spend Sunday in Iowa, where the leadoff caucuses will be the first test of candidates' viability.
