  • Tim Cook changed his username on Twitter to troll President Donald Trump

Cook didn't correct the president, letting Trump to carry on with his remarks.

Mr Trump issued his firm denial on Twitter on Monday in what some have referred to as his "weirdest lie yet" the president told Republican fundraisers on Friday that the story which emerged last Wednesday was "fake news".

At a meeting of the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board at the White House on March 6, President Trump, while addressing the leaders of industries, appreciated Mr. Cook for his "big investment" in the USA and referred to the tech executive with a new nickname "Tim Apple". "But all you heard from the 'fake news, ' he said, was 'Tim Apple'". Cook had some fun, too, changing his Twitter handle to "Tim " the day after the meeting.

Even the White House transcript exhausted to correct the president's flub.

Citing the Axios report, Colbert said "Trump told the donors that he actually said "Tim Cook Apple" really fast, and the "Cook" part of the sentence was soft".

He accused the "fake news" media of spinning the story to make it look like he'd made a silly slip. "It doesn't even matter!" Yesterday, Axios reported that Trump has been telling people that the mishap is not a real thing. Trump was praising Cook for bringing some manufacturing back to the USA when finished by saying, "We appreciate it very much, Tim Apple".

"I used to say, 'Tim, you got to start doing it over here.' And you really have". Last year, he had called Lockheed Martin CEO Marillyn Hewson "Marillyn Lockheed".

Later, Trump tweeted a second version of events, saying he'd actually said "Tim/Apple" as "an easy way to save words".
