  • Trump lenders subpoenaed by New York attorney general in new probe

Late Monday night, the office of New York Attorney General Letitia James subpoenaed Deutsche Bank and Investors Bank for records related to Trump's unsuccessful National Football League bid and several other Trump Organization projects, a source familiar with the matter told ABC News.

The newspaper said the new civil investigation into Deutsche was prompted by congressional testimony last month of Trump's former personal attorney Michael Cohen.

Deutsche Bank, which couldn't be reached late Monday night for comment, previously has cooperated with other Trump-related inquiries, including previous year when called on by NY bank regulators.

Deutsche Bank has been one of the few major banks willing to regularly lend to Trump, whose past financial troubles scared off large NY banks. In 2017, Democrats on the House Financial Services Committee asked for results of a review the bank reportedly took of accounts held by Mr. Trump and members of his family to see if there were any connections to the Russian government, in relation to several governmental probes into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Her office is also overseeing a lawsuit against a Trump charitable foundation.

President Donald Trump went after New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo after the state attorney general subpoenaed banking records that may show his company inflated its worth to get loans.

The president has previously claimed that James and her predecessors in the NY attorney general's office are politically biased and are unfairly targeting him. Messages left with New Jersey-based Investors Bank and the Trump Organization were not immediately returned. A request for comment from the Trump Organization was not returned. He said Trump was aware that his company also submitted phony valuations to insurance companies to reduce premiums.

'These documents and others were provided to Deutsche Bank on one occasion where I was with them in our attempt to obtain money so that we can put a bid on the Buffalo Bills, ' Cohen testified at the House Oversight Committee.
