Cali was the first NY crime family boss shot since 1985, when Paul Castellano, who owned a mansion on Todt Hill, was executed as he arrived at Sparks Steakhouse in Manhattan, according to Pix 11.

Cali was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The New York Daily News stated that a family member called 911 and said Cali was run over before he was shot; one witness told the Daily News, "There were like six shots, and then there were three more". His head was by his SUV, and the truck was open'.

It is unclear who killed Cali, who reportedly became the head of the crime organization in 2015.

No description of a suspect is now available, and no arrests have been made, according to an NYPD spokesman.

Cali, who was known throughout his life as "Franky Boy", is the nephew-in-law of Sicilian mobster John Gambino and had close ties to the Sicilian Mafia family led by Salvatore Inzerillo. The house is listed under the name of Rosaria Inzerillo.
